Odds & Ends

A few things need some clarification. Specifically, these items relate to key design decisions, number of hours consumed, and where the code may be obtained. Firstly, the decision to use Servlets + JSP was driven by the flexibility afforded by Java; essentially, once you leave the doPost, doGet, and doPut methods of your servlets, it's all Java! You have the entire J2SE and J2EE API at your disposal, which could lead to exotic designs on the back-end. Its all about familiarity and flexibility.

Secondly, and briefly, the true number of hours coding can be estimated at around 8. Of course, many, many more hours were spent debugging, researching, writing documentation, and shouting at computer screens. Much hair was lost.

Lastly, the current source base is hosted as a private SVN project at http://krooj2.servebeer.com/dcct4090/phase1. We will soon allow anonymous checkout to that repository; however, running live code will be another challenge altogether. A README and INSTALL will have to be written.
